First US Nintendo commercial? Mego "Time-Out" Toss-Up (1980)
This is a newly restored commercial for the Mego "Time-Out" Toss-Up toy... which you might know better as the Game & Watch: Ball handheld! In the United States, the Game & Watch was originally released through the Mego toy company. We believe this advertisement, produced by DuRona Productions, is the first American commercial for a Nintendo product.
The Video Game History Foundation helped recover this 16mm film, which was acquired by historian Chris Kohler. The film had significantly degraded, but our film vendor, Movette Film Transfer, was able to digitally restore most of the color.

Army Men: Sarge's Heroes "Nutcracker" commercial
Переглядів 2,9 тис.6 місяців тому
Do not invite the Army Men to your Christmas party. This commercial (which is higher quality than the other copies we've seen online) comes from a VHS tape in the collection of Mike Mendheim, creative director for Army Men: Sarge's Heroes. We think Mendheim likely got this company straight from the advertising agency that produced it, so this as about as direct quality as we'll probably get!

    It never made sense to me that just one man, Ghen, could occupy four out of the five islands all by himself, with no concessions to the natives at all, for decades. I don't mean logistically: I mean psychologically. That never felt like genuine human behavior to me.

    • @adamdawson8844
      @adamdawson8844 6 днів тому

      It happens even now. The rich have multiple homes they are barely in. The ultra rich own entire islands they may visit for a week in a year or more. Ghen at least seemed to have a purpose for those that was greater than what we see in reality.

    • @MrBenMcLean
      @MrBenMcLean 4 дні тому

      @@adamdawson8844 Truly rich people would have servants on their private islands. The impression we got from the classic game was that it was JUST Ghen on four out of the five islands, with no servants or other subordinates.
